One Hope Clinic

One Hope Centro de Vida Health Center is a clinic located in the International District of Albuquerque and offers low-cost health care to the community. It is managed by community health workers and all of the health providers are volunteers. Many of the patients speak Spanish as their first language. It is helpful if you are able to speak Spanish but it is not a requirement to volunteer. This clinic is staffed by volunteer medical students, pharmacy students, 1-2 residents, a pharmacist, and an attending physician. As a third year, you will rotate through this clinic during your Adolescent Medicine rotation. During first and second year, you are encouraged to volunteer if you are interested, as it is helpful to have volunteered at One Hope before you are assigned to work there as a 3rd year resident during your adolescent rotation.

Helpful tips for clinic:

- It is best to park on the street across from the building.

- If it is your first time volunteering, please arrive a few minutes early to fill out paperwork at the front desk.

- Please arrive as close to 05:00PM as possible, as residents will help form 3-4 interdisciplinary teams (including medical students, pharmacy students, pre-med students). - Residents will serve as preceptors, and can see patients independently if needed.

- Wear professional clothes; no white coat or scrubs necessary. Please bring your ID badge, stethoscope, and a pen.

- Clinic may run later than schedule depending on number of patients and their concerns. Please plan accordingly.

- It is helpful to lead a "huddle" of volunteers before and after the clinic session to help organize the clinic flow, solicit feedback, and highlight important educational points.

- When you arrive at the clinic, make sure to "clock in/out" with your login information (see volunteer registration above) on their computers in the back or on your mobile device. You can also use this link: https://app.betterimpact.com/Login.

- If you are unable to attend a shift that you have registered for or that you are scheduled to attend because you are in your adolescent rotation, please find a replacement and notify the current resident coordinator, Veronica Pace.
