5/6/19 Jaleh Akhavan and Dr. Tomedi Benefit of omega 3 fatty acids in pregnancy   Preterm birth < 37 weeks and early preterm birth < 34 weeks were reduced in women receiving omega-3 long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCPUFA) compared with no omega-3. There was a possibly reduced risk of perinatal death and of neonatal care admission and a reduced risk of LBW babies. Therefore a good case can be made for offering a 500 mg -1,000 mg supplement to pregnant women.
